THE ORDER OF PROMETHEUS
The Order of Prometheus is a distinguished chivalric order founded by Grand Duke Thomas André Louis Maes, who serves as its Grand Master and Grand Prior. Inspired by the enduring symbolism of Prometheus—the bringer of knowledge, enlightenment, and progress—the Order is dedicated to honoring individuals whose lives and achievements contribute meaningfully to the advancement of humanity.
The Order recognizes excellence and merit across a broad spectrum of human endeavor. Honors and knighthood titles, including Knight Commander (Sir/Dame), Officer, Grand Officer, and Grand Cross, are conferred upon individuals who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishment in the arts, sciences, humanitarian service, education, innovation, leadership, and business.
These distinctions are not awarded lightly, but rather as a testament to sustained dedication, ethical conduct,
and positive societal impact.

At its core, the Order of Prometheus upholds values of knowledge, responsibility, service, and moral courage. Members are expected to embody intellectual curiosity, creativity, and a commitment to truth, while also recognizing that progress must be guided by compassion and respect for human dignity. The Order promotes the responsible use of knowledge and influence for the betterment of society, emphasizing service over privilege and contribution over status.
Humanitarianism stands as a central pillar of the Order. Acts of charity, advocacy for justice, support for cultural and scientific advancement, and efforts to improve the lives of others are regarded as expressions of modern chivalry. The Order seeks to foster a global fellowship of individuals who lead by example and who understand that true honor lies in service to others.
Each year, a careful and deliberate selection process is undertaken to identify individuals whose achievements and character align with the ideals of the Order. Those inducted are not only recipients of honor but are entrusted with upholding and promoting the values of the Order of Prometheus, serving as ambassadors of integrity, enlightenment, and responsible leadership in their respective fields and communities.
Through its traditions, distinctions, and living principles, the Order of Prometheus stands as a modern expression of chivalric ideals—bridging heritage and progress, honor and action, knowledge and compassion.

Knights and Dames of the Order are recognized not only for professional excellence, but also for personal character, ethical conduct, and a commitment to the responsible use of knowledge and influence.
Upon investiture, recipients are entitled to the honorific Sir or Dame, symbolizing their acceptance into a tradition of modern chivalry rooted in service rather than privilege.

Their role embodies the highest expression of modern chivalry uniting honor, wisdom, and active service for the common good.
